The Investment Department handles the licensing, supervision, and regulation of various categories of investment mediators.
The Licensing Unit at the Investment Department handles licensing of mutual fund managers and their trustees; applications for permits to hold means of control in fund managers; licensing of individual and corporate investment portfolio managers, investment marketers, and investment advisers; and registration of foreign dealers. The licensing procedure includes, but is not limited to licensing exams, approval and supervision of internships, approval of exemptions from exams and internships, reliability reviews, license issuance, and the suspension and cancellation of licenses. The Unit also monitors compliance of mutual fund managers and trustees, and firms engaging in investment advising, investment marketing, and portfolio management, with equity and insurance conditions by reviewing quarterly and annual reports. Furthermore, the licensing unit regulates and collects annual fees due from individuals and corporations.
